Staying in a Palace at the Cairo Marriott Hotel

When we were in Egypt, we stayed at a super central location at the Marriott Cairo. Along side the Nile River, it is close to the Pyramids and the go to museums. We felt like absolute royalty staying here with all the palace like design. Instagram got a got working out during our stay.

Where is Marriott Cairo Located

It is right in the heart of the Zamalek district, with awesome views of the Nile River and the city skyline. There are plenty of riverboats that are also restaurants only a few minutes walk by. It is close to many other big hotels chains and every taxi driver knows where it is. Look for the big twin towers that hover above a beautiful palace.

Things around the Marriott Cairo

It is very close to the freeway, which gives it access to everything. The Cairo Museum is a 20 minute walk or a 5 minute taxi from the hotel. The Egyptian Museum is also close by, as is the Opera House. Cairo Tower is less than 10 minutes walk away from the Marriott. Alabaster Sphinx is just across the river too.
The Great Pyramids are only a 15 minute drive away (without traffic of course!), so it’s nice and close.

The hotel used to be a Palace, hence the majestic entry and many beautiful spots within the establishment

How to get around Marriott Cairo

There are so many taxis in Cairo you will never have trouble going places. If you don’t want the challenge of haggling and stress, Marriott have taxi services all downstairs at reception. Uber also works in Cairo, definitely our winning transportation style to avoid getting scammed. Hotel transfers are 80 Egyptian Pounds one way, which is not too bad.

Food & Drinks at Marriott Cairo

I don’t think we have ever been to a hotel that has that many bars and restaurant options INSIDE the actual hotel. Seriously. Irish Bar, Steakhouse, Egyptian Nights, Italian, Classic restaurant – they have it all.  We loved the outdoor Garden cafe. Our favorite restaurant within the property is Saraya Gallery, french cuisine in this beautiful vintage set up! Hard to not resist going to eat there to be honest!

Marriott Cairo Facilities

Other than the dozen food and bar options, there is an amazing garden to stroll through, a huge swimming pool (that is currently under maintenance, huge gym space and literally a million Instagram picture opportunities!)

  • Fitness Center with Gym / Workout Room
  • Bar/Lounge

Our experience

As far as hotel stays goes, it was the complete place to stay. They had EVERYTHING you will ever need in an hotel. Staff were exceptionally well trained and they made our stay even more enjoyable. With the palace design, it is very good for all those Instagram shots. Check out some of our cool pics on our social!

The hotel looks luxurious and totally stunning! I’m sure it was a treat to stay in such a beautiful old palace. The chandeliers, gorgeous interiors and the view of River Nile makes it a perfect place to stay. Thanks for sharing!

  • The hotel looks fantastic. I love how you guys laid out your photos! Super neat. It looks like the Marriot is the perfect mix of luxury and comfort.

  • Wow this looks like a fabulous hotel. Definitely one to consider for our next visit. What a crazy city that is

Unfortunately, I’ve never been to Egypt. South Africa is the only African country I’ve visited. Never realized there was an island in the middle of Cairo.

  • I have never visited Cairo but this hotel definitely looks like the place to stay if I’ll be in the area. The chandeliers and the traditional decorations are stunning and make it so authentic. The view over the river and the different restaurants inside are definitely pluses.

The pictures are lovely. The hotel is really luxurious and the decor is one of a kind. The overall experience must have been amazing for you guys as the hotel is located in a wonderful location. Marriott really lives up to its brand promise.

    • We were very happy with our stay and would strongly consider it if we were there again.

  • This post brought back wonderful memories of living in Cairo. I’ve visited the Marriott Cairo several times, and must agree with you – it’s stunning and you do feel like royalty. It’s also convenient to get the pyramids from the hotel because of its central location. It looks and sounds like you guys had an amazing time staying here!

Very cool photographs. You certainly captured the cool and chic side of this hotel. I’ve never been to Egypt but I think I’d dig the photography opportunities there.

  • wow it looks beautiful. I did not stay here when we were in Cairo, but it looks amazing!

  • Glimpses of The World

Looks like a good location. Love the fact that there are pool and gym as well. And the food looks amazing on your photos. 🙂

  • Melody Pittman

Loved the photo of you walking down that gorgeous tiled pathway. The Cairo Marriott looks to hold as many luxuries and beautiful features as most other Marriotts. I have been a proud card holder since 1987 of their frequent member program. 😉

    • Wow, that is a long time, do they reward you for that loyalty?

  • Janine Good

Oh how I long to get to Egypt but am too afraid at the moment. Your hotel is perfectly placed for the things that most people head to Cairo for. 15 minute drive from the pyramids is so convenient and the beautiful views of the Nile are amazing. It is nice to read that you were treated like royalty and the food there was exceptional. I sure hope it gets safer to go there someday!

  • Oooh this hotel looks absolutely wonderful! What with it being so close to everything you mentioned I can imagine it being the perfect choice for a stay in Cairo. I’ve never been to Egypt myself but for sure will some day, so I’ll definitely have to keep this hotel in mind for then!

  • SylvanMist

Wow talk about luxurious! If I had the money definitely sounds like the place to go. I love that it’s so close to everything too, that’s a huge plus whenever you’re in a foreign place!

    • Yes it is always something we research plenty before we go anywhere. Nothing is worse than traveling long distances in the city, so we try and be smart with our hotel location choices!

  • MOzek Igor

Nice review! Like the central location, design and the food seems totally delicious! Accommodation to consider on my next trip to Egypt.

  • Laura Lynch

I stayed there many years ago when I was in Cairo for the first time. It’s really a fantastic hotel. I will stay there again most definitely when I go there again.

  • carlingdoodling

Love the photos here. I hope to visit Cairo soon too! Thanks for sharing your experience!

  • This looks FANCY! It’s nice to treat yourself to a little luxury every now and then. If/when I’m ever in Cairo I’ll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip on Uber. I’m constantly amazed at home many places in the world now have Uber available. It definitely makes life easier.

  • What a unique looking Marriott. The location sounds perfect too, close to the Nile, museums and the pyramids. It’s good there is a fitness room in there, I love to work out whilst traveling and it’s often difficult to find a short term gym.

  • Anita Nicole

I had no idea Cairo looked like this, I feel very uninformed (my fault). All of these destinations seem to foreign to me. I really loved the layout and photo collage. I am also in awe that you are your sweetheart can travel on the weekends to so many places. I am going to read that rest of your blog to see how you’ve achieved this.

    • Thanks so much Anita! We had no idea what Cairo was like with, but were impressed with it. A very chaotic city and there are still many areas that even Mitch wouldn’t walk around by himself. We love travel, its our passion, love and our way of life 🙂

  • Certainly looks like you enjoyed yourselves. I’ve never been to Egypt but will definitely keep this hotel in mind when I visit. I love hotels that used to be former palaces. Also: Thanks for the tip on Uber – I didn’t realize they were in Cairo.

  • Barb

I stayed in Giza, when I was in Cairo. Next time I m in this city, I will check out this hotel. It looks great!

  • Gokul Raj

Really loved the location by the river. A nice view to wake up to.

Really liked the quality of the photos, you have a good taste. It was nice to see this, a girl was telling me and others all about this place at school last week.
