Eat in Dubai: Festive menu @ Fume

Before heading out to the Nordic countries for Christmas, we had to have our Dubai style Christmas Feast. Fume invited us to the 2016 Christmas Menu and this is what it looked like! Note that it will be available for a limited time from December 23 to Sunday, December 25, priced at 195 AED per person. For two, it was a lot of food for both of us to handle. This is absolutely a good deal for big groups.

Appetizers

Four different ones:
1- Smoked salmon terrine: LOVED it.
2- Marinated Beef slices served with fried bread: Barely touched the bread, tried a bit the meat, but we were completely stolen by the terrine… we had to try to not stuff ourself for the mains.
3- Mushroom & Mascarpone Vol-au-vent: A classic, reminded me of home, Montreal.
4- Crab cakes: Loved the combination with the mashed peas, we loved eating most of the crunchy bit of the Crab cakes more than the whole thing is it was quite soft and we love our crispy food!

If we had to rate our faves? it would be 1-2-4-3 … please save some space for the mains 😉

Mains

We ate in the order that we felt it would be our favourites, and we had it spot on! Considering we were already so full, we had to be picky and go with our gut!

1- Jumbo Prawns: Like seriously JUMBO. Usually prawns are prawns right? But the stuffed mushrooms, spinach, the hollandaise type of sauce, I mean the whole mix was just perfect with the prawns. NEED that recipe guys.. share please?
2- Roasted beef striploin w/ horseradish sauce and Yorkshire pudding: We ended up digging in the meat only as we did not appreciated it with all the things that had to go with it. At the point flavours for us were a little bit all over the place and it made us feel very full.
3- Charred Brussels sprout w/ veal bacon: After feeling so heavy, we dug in what felt like healthy and it indeed felt good! (even though was all dipped in tons of cheese!)
4- Potato dumpling w/ seafood: went straight for the seafood, did not eat too much of the dough, although at every bite I wanted more as it is quite an unusual thing I have never eaten before!
5-
Turkey breast roulade: Wasn’t too fussed about it. Some would love it though with the cranberry sauce and all! Just wasn’t for us.

Big winner: Prawns, more prawns please? 😉

Desserts

We honestly did not have room for desserts after the feast.

We had to fit in some space for a bite of the panettone with cinnamon and mascarpone; Struffoli, sticky deep-fried dough balls coated with honey & sugar sparkles and, finally, a chocolate panforte with warm caramel sauce, it was impossible to cut, it was so hard! Don’t know what happened there! I think our favourites would be again in that same order.

Conclusion

A great value for money. So much food and enough goodness in all the quantity to still be happy with the overall experience. After all we are easy eaters and this menu would be perfect if you are to put a bunch of different people with different tastes together, we believe everybody would find its satisfaction somewhere! Yalla it’s only for X-Mas from the 23rd to 25th of December @ Fume Dubai (Downtown & Pier 7)
