Stay near the local markets at Avani Luang Prabang

Where to stay in Luang Prabang

Did you just booked a trip to Laos or planing one? You aren’t too sure what to book since the choices are quite far from each other and different styles? Here’s the newest addition to Luang Prabang with the opening of an AVANI Hotel.

Luang Prabang has the reputation of being a backpacker’s destination. Laos in general isn’t known yet to be visited by itself, but mostly combined with an Indochina trip started from Viet Nam. With the combination of being protected by UNESCO and being not as popular as the neighbouring countries, Laos hasn’t commercialized too much its attractions. With that being said, not all hotel brands have landed there yet, if they are, they are all quite unique in their genre and offering.

Where is AVANI+ Luang Prabang located?

Travelling to Luang Prabang has not always been easy until recently with airlines offering more routes towards Laos. Air Asia, located in Malaysia’s capital Kuala Lumpur has opened up the route so that if you book in advance for flights under 100$US return. Once you land in Luang Prabang, the airport is very small. You will get your Laos visa on arrival and be greeted by your driver of AVANI hotels. The transfer will take a short 10 minutes and you will be quite happy that it has the most premium position in town, located in front of the post office and popular night market.

How to get around from AVANI+ Luang Prabang?

If location is important to you at all in a hotel then you have come to the right place. You are 20m from the night market; add to that 150 stairs and you are on the famous landmark of Luang Prabang that is Phousi Hill. Even though you are right in the hustle bustle, the design of your room will make it sound proof of the street noise.  The mighty Mekong River is only a few blocks away if you want to watch the world go by down there. The hotel provides complimentary push bikes that you can use to ride around the city. We recommend taking them for an afternoon and do some temple hopping along the peninsula. If biking is less of your thing, walking around is quite easy and the tuk tuk is your prime choice if you need a ride. Taxis or private cars will cost you significantly more considering the fuel price in Laos and its premium nature.

Our AVANI+ Luang Prabang experience

Picture this, waking up to the smell of warm bread and coffee being brewed in a large French colonial boutique hotel with greenery everywhere. Sounds pretty good right? Even though we had plenty of rain during our stay, the staff went out of the way to make us feel at home. We enjoyed having the large pool to ourselves and to be honest enjoy a good swim while there is rain. Things we really enjoyed were the cookies for our coffee and banana chips being refilled daily and the incredible location which enabled us to just walk out for 2 minutes to get some delicious coconut pancakes from the street vendors!
