Special Day of the Dead Menu at Lucha Loco, Singapore

The super Loco group have created a month-long special dinner menu that has been specially created in celebration of Dia de los Muertos, Mexico’s Day of the Dead. The highlight is the exclusive dessert collaboration with Singapore’s very own Janice Wong. This special menu will run from October 27 to November 27.

Celebrated on November 2, Dia de los Muertos is a colourful celebration that takes place in Mexico, and other parts of the worlds, each and every years. It is a time for Mexicans to honour those who have passed by having huge street parades and parties. Maybe you have seen the colourful face painting where they honour the dead with sugar skull make-up.

The menu is a mixture of special Mexican ingredients and flavours with a contemporary and uniquely Singaporean twist. The first dish out is the Seared Scallops and Roasted Corn Purée which is topped with salsa, and pico de gallo. They are a treat to eat and very tender.

The Beef Short Rib enchiladas are a tri-colour combination of enchiladas wraps that complete envelope slowly cooked beef ribs. The kale and pickled red inions really compliment the dish and for a bit of a kick, you can have some added jalapenos.

The dish of the night has to be the Pastel de Catrina, a dish incorporating all the colours of Dia de los Muertos and is a cron parfait with passion fruit gel, topped with blood orange sorbet, a chocolate skull with a pistachio crumble. To top it off, it has a coffee and berry coulis which symbolises eternal life.

If you are thirsty, you simply cannot go past the Black Maria Margherita cocktail drink to try. Crafted in Singapore, it is a blend of blackberries infused with rosemary. The tequila is the strong stuff and the charcoal smoked paprika salt rim represents the lit candles and salt as an offering. The special menu is not around for long and is definitely worth a try if you are looking to experience and enjoy Mexicos celebrations.
