Kilindi Zanzibar by Elewana Collection: A Private Paradise To Discover

For our first Zanzibar experience, we made sure to choose a hotel that is part of the GHA (Global Hotel Alliance) so we can use our DISCOVERY Loyalty membership. If you are luxury resort savvy like we are, this membership is among the best and won’t disappoint you, as you can unlock pretty amazing perks like Gifts, Local Experience Tours, Late and Early stays with you room, etc.

So our decision led us to Kilindi, part of Elewana Collection, an amazing stunning group of hotels specializing in the African continent. Elewana has amazing properties across the continent, so make sure you check them out before booking any tours and safaris!

Concept

At Kilindi, guests have their own personal villa with an amazing friendly and helpful butler. We had Khalfan, that helped us out to get the most out of out trip in Zanzibar. Kilindi only has 15 rooms, which makes the resort very exclusive and personal. You barely see the other guests as most simply have their meals of the day in the comfort of their villas.

Rooms & Overall Design

The villas have 2 mini towers, one you climb 2 sets of stairs up for your beautiful open bathroom and back down to the other for you beautiful room. At the windows is always a mini private pool overlooking the ocean. On the ground floor you will also have another little pool

Service

With the assistance from Khalfan, we were able to schedule our meals around our activities (or vice versa) – The first point that was mentioned to us when we arrived was that there was no restaurant. Thuymi and I looked so confused and then we were told that they give the guests no particular eating place, so you can eat whatever you want, wherever you want. We had meals in our bed, the beach, the pool- all around what you want to do.

Spa facilities

We were also quick to book a spa treatment, just because we can thanks to our DISCOVERY Loyalty Membership Black Status. Our relaxing massage sessions we’re very relaxing indeed and the pressure was very strong like we want it! We are always too sore!

Black Membership benefits w/ DISCOVERY Loyalty

With our DISCOVERY Loyalty membership, we were able to enjoy some “local” experiences. One of them being the Spa treatment and the other one being the Sunset Dhow Cruise. This was so fun as we had an amazing crew from Kenya sailing us all the way up to Nungwi. In fact, for at least half of the trip, they let Mitch sail the Dhow, which was an amazing experience. Sunset wasn’t the best that day due to some clouds, but nevertheless found a way to amaze us.

Spare yourself some time and go get your membership and use it! Each hotel you check-in with DISCOVERY Loyalty will give make you reach a status that will unlock pretty amazing things such as late checkouts, complimentary local experiences, etc.

AdventureFaktory Tips & Picks

– Make sure you have a dinner on the beach for sunset. Super romantic with a bottle of Bubbly
– Long romantic walk on the beach is a must
– The best beach of the North is right around the corner of Kilindi, walk only 5 to 10 minutes depending on the high or low tide!
– If you don’t want to walk, locals have water taxis that are cheap and take you down the coast
– Use your DISCOVERYloyalty card to benefit an early check-in, late check-out and even great local experiences if you are a Black Member
